Nickelodeon Visits South Gate Summer Camp
Nickelodeon’s Worldwide Day of Play initiative visited Woodcraft Rangers summer camp last week at South Gate Park. Close to 200 students attending Woodcraft’s summer camp in South Gate and Rosemead integrated at the park and celebrated the event with trampolines, fitness game and dance competitions. Celebrities SpongeBob Square Pants and Patrick Starr came out to support, participate and provide support the nationwide movement and take pictures with the campers.
Worldwide Day of Play is part of Nickelodeon’s ongoing health and wellness efforts and continues the network’s legacy of promoting prosocial initiatives to its viewers working alongside organizations such as Woodcraft Rangers. Their nationwide movement stopped by to engage and partner with Woodcraft, promoting health through fun activities. The event is part of a tour preceding the Sept. 26 Worldwide Day of Play, in which Nickelodeon will block three hours to display a black screen with a message for its audience to play outside.
Woodcraft Rangers CEO Chris Johnson said, “Adding healthy behaviors to our youth is imperative. We relish the idea of organizations sharing a passion in this area and partnering with Woodcraft Rangers such as Nickelodeon.” A leader in experimental and hands on learning, their growth has led them to one of the largest providers of expanded learning.
