This week, Woodcraft Rangers is proud to join communities across the country in celebrating Week of the Young Child — an annual recognition of the importance of early childhood education and the educators, families, and programs that shape it.
Created by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), Week of the Young Child highlights the critical needs of young children and their families and affirms that the early years are foundational for lifelong learning and development. It’s a moment to celebrate the children, caregivers, and educators who make those years matter.
Woodcraft Rangers’ comprehensive early learning programs serves over 1,500 Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten students through afterschool enrichment clubs. With a focus on social-emotional learning (SEL) and school readiness, we believe in the power of early education, and in nurturing the whole child every step of the way. Behind the scenes, our small but mighty Early Learning Team, led by Early Education Program Manager Rachel Carrasco, designs an inclusive, play-based curriculum that provides hands-on support to ensure every child receives a high-quality, joyful learning experience.
“Early childhood is such a critical window of development, and we take that responsibility seriously. The team designs every activity and environment with intention, ensuring that play, discovery, and connection happen in ways that feel natural to the children. And we know that when we meet children where they are, that’s when the real learning happens,” says Rachel.

MONDAY
Music & Movement Monday
For our youngest learners, rhythm and melody do more than spark joy — they build brain power. Through music and movement, children strengthen cognitive and physical skills, develop coordination, language, and self-expression, all while having a blast.
TUESDAY
Tasty Tuesday
Food and cooking are excellent ways to inspire creativity while introducing healthy habits. Children can share favorite foods and family recipes, then bring their dishes to life through vibrant drawings — celebrating culture, community, and nutritious snacking all at once.
WEDNESDAY
Work Togther Wednesday
Collaboration is a superpower — even for the very young. Whether building block towers or solving puzzles together, children develop valuable social and emotional skills when they work as a team. They learn early that working together builds stronger communities.
THURSDAY
Artsy Thursday
Art is so much more than making things look pretty. Engaging in creative expression helps children develop fine motor skills, spark imagination, and strengthen problem-solving abilities. Every brushstroke is a building block for development.
FRIDAY
Family Friday
We close the week by celebrating what matters most — the love, traditions, and everyday moments that bring families together. Whether sharing a story, dancing in the living room, or enjoying a quiet walk, these small moments build lifelong connections.
